START OF GAA 2010
Posted on: May 16 2010

16th May 2010 We joined our colleagues from Observe on the first day of the GAA football championship. Our satellite trucks went to Derry, Thurles and Port Laoise where we provided satellite uplink facilities and took an SDI embedded feed of the match from the Outside Broadcast unit. In Port Laoise, the Megalink was used for both OB and uplink combined. The output of the 3 camera OB was uplinked via satellite and sent live to the web and recorded in VT for a highlights program later in the day. We anticipate many trips around the country this year as we follow teams through the provincial championships and qualifiers in search of that elusive All Ireland trophy. MAGNERS LEAGUE SEMI FINAL 2010
Posted on: May 15 2010

15th May 2010 Leinster and Munster contested another thrilling rugby match at the RDS. We used the Megalink on this one and worked very closely with our clients who provided a radio camera for pitch side, interviews and colour. It was all about being mobile. Wherever the camera went the whole crew had to follow and there were no cables!! We successfully provided radio talkback circuits for presenter, cameraman, floor manager, soundman, and producer allowing the studio to communicate directly with the key personnel on site in a live environment. This event was also significant in that we uplinked 3 DVBS2 8PSK streams to the satellite from the one truck. A wide shot, radio camera and clean match were fed as different streams. UK GENERAL ELECTION 2010
Posted on: May 07 2010

6th / 7th May 2010 Digital Space headed over en masse to 4 different count centres in Wales and England. We set up live satellite feeds of pre declaration reports, the declarations themselves and “down the line” interviews of politicians. In Llandudno in Wales the counts for 2 constituencies were taking place in the same location. Here we made particular use of the ability to send 2 DVB streams simultaneously to the Cardiff hub. We had 2 dual ISDN talkback circuits for director and reporter for each stream. In the two England constituencies we set up a 3 camera system complete with synchronous feeds to vision mixer and radio talkback. In Redditch a radio camera was used as one of the cameras, bringing its own sync and RF issues which were successfully mastered by the Digital Space crew.
