Established in 1997 Digital Space is the largest independent satellite communications service in Ireland with four fully redundant digital satellite trucks, supported by earth stations in Dublin and Belfast . The focus is on sports or news coverage of events with rapid communication links to Europe, North America, South America , South Africa in a single satellite hop. Links to and from the other parts of the world can also be organised via fibre or double satellite hop.

The satellite trucks operate throughout Ireland . The setup can consist of a self contained satellite truck with up to 4 cameras or a satellite link alongside a multi camera Outside Broadcast Unit.

The dedicated state of the art digital MCRs are fully integrated with Screen Scene's facilities, further benefiting from all the hardware, experience and creative expertise associated with studios and full service post production facilities. Digital Space has built a formidable reputation in the international sports satellite arena. Domestic and international broadcasters depend on Digital Space for transmitting and receiving live and edited highlights of International Rugby, International Soccer, GAA, Snooker, Darts, etc.

News & Current Affairs
Digital Space has become the primary route for the main international news agencies covering the major political developments and events in Ireland. Since its inception, CNN, ITN, Sky, BBC, CNBC, Bloomberg, UTV have relied on Digital Space's expertise for coverage of such timely stories as the political developments in Northern Ireland, George Bush visits to Ireland, Northern Bank Robbery, Bertie Ahern resignation, Lisbon Treaty, Anglo Irish Bank Nationalisation.

Permanent two-way circuits between the MCR at Screen Scene, Dublin , and domestic broadcasters, RTE and TV3, ensure that all uplink, downlink and onpass requirements are catered for. Digital Space also has direct permanent fibre connections from Government buildings (The Dail Studio).

Broadcast
There are an increasing number of productions working in several locations and countries at one time. Digital Space allows directors and producers to work seamlessly between different locations. Casting sessions, rushes from a day's shoot and work in progress direct from the editing and graphics suites, can be viewed instantly from anywhere in the world.

Commercials The demands of an increasingly global advertising industry are catered for. Clients who wish to keep on the move have been able to review an initial edit by Screen Scene which has been satellite hopped to New York for example.
